Funding 2024 is go!

The Highlands and Islands Climate Festival will return in September 2024 to celebrate community climate action. Community groups across Highland, Orkney & Shetland are encouraged to take part by hosting climate action events throughout the month. The theme of the festival is localism, thinking local, being local, sharing local and growing local.

Previous events have seen events of all kinds, fashion swaps, repair cafes, climate discussions and film screenings. The festival has been organized by a working group of active communities across the region.

To support communities to take part, small grants of £150 are available. Community groups and voluntary organisations can apply for the financial contribution to host suitable events now until the fund closes on 28th June 2024. In addition to the small grant fund, the festival is open to hear from communities with bigger ambitions. Events which would require additional funding resource but would significantly engage their community in climate action. Festival organizers are eager to hear from groups and if they can, will support larger events.

Highlands and Islands Climate Hub Manager, Joan Lawrie said:

“The Highlands and Islands Climate Festival offers a brilliant opportunity to celebrate community climate action at all levels and stages. We love to see the creative ways our communities take part and can’t wait to see the event submissions come in for 2024!”

Now in it’s third year, festival organisers are looking to ensure its continued growth and so, are set to launch a sponsorship programme. Any businesses or oganisations interested in sponsoring the festival are encouraged to contact the festival to discuss the options.
